Threads App lost its half of users says Mark Zukerberg

Despite the early excitement surrounding its debut, Threads had trouble building a substantial user base. Numerous issues the app encountered ultimately led to its demise. First off, many questioned the need for a separate app because Threads’ functionality mostly overlapped with Instagram’s built-in features, like Close Friends listings and direct messaging.

Second, Threads wasn’t very good at drawing in new users. People who were not already heavily ingrained in the Instagram ecosystem were hesitant to download yet another messaging app, particularly since there were already widely used messaging services like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Additionally, the app’s dependence on Instagram and the requirement to link to an Instagram account reduced its appeal to users who wished to segregate their social activities.
